Mrs. Mattie Pearl Montgomery was born on April 5, 1934 in the Boiling Springs Community of Putnam County, TN to the late Felix Arthur and Nancy Grider Brown. She passed away early morning May 21st at CRMC surrounded by loved ones.

Pearl was first and foremost a devout Christian, wife, and mother who loved her family and friends. She took her service to the Lord seriously as she assisted with Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, choir member, and church greeter at Cookeville Baptist Temple where she had been a member for many years. In later years she also attended Boiling Springs Baptist Church with her daughter and many life long friends. She had a true zest for life and loved sharing the gospel and salvation of Christ with everyone she met.

Pearl was always full of laughter, loved to cook and made the best pickles in Putnam County. She loved sharing her homemade goodies with family and friends. She was an avid gardener of flowers and vegetables alike.

If you knew Pearl, you knew she loved her friends and stood by those she loved. Pearl was a blessing to all who knew her and will be greatly missed and loved by many.

Pearl retired from the Dayton, Ohio School Nutrition Program after several years. After retirement she and her husband Raymond returned to Cookeville to enjoy friends and family.

She is survived by a daughter, Brenda Kaye Montgomery of Cookeville, Sister, Anna Lee Hicks of Nashville, a sister in law Vernell Brown of Cookeville, and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Raymond R. Montgomery, sister Lorene Robinson, and brothers, Arthur R. and Clifton Brown.
