Harlan Creed Simmons, age 81 passed from this life January 1st, 2022, at his residence of Sparta, TN.
He was born March 19th, 1940, to the late Powell Louis and Della Mae Baker Simmons in White County Tennessee.
Harlan was a truck driver and a farmer he also was a Deacon at Greenwood Baptist Church for 42 years. He loved to laugh and was a friend to many.
Preceded in death by his parents, one brother, John Howard Simmons; Sister, Joyce Faye Dickerson; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Orville and Bertha Lawson, and brother-in-law Charles wolf, sister-in-law Nell Simmons.
Survived by his wife of 64 years, Phyllis Virginia Simmons; Daughter, Donna Horton and her husband Don, son Harlan Simmons and his wife Rhonda; Granddaughter, Ashley Storch and her husband Matt; granddaughter, Candace Short, and grandson Cody Simmons and his fiance Alicia Austin; great grandson, Kaden Hines and great granddaughters, Kaiana and Tailynn Short; Brother, Leonard and wife Geneva Simmons; sister, Mary Maurene Wolfe; Sister in law, Joyce and Simmons; brother in law, James Dickerson; also survived by several nieces and nephews and cousins.
Pallbearers: Mark Dickerson, Mike Dickerson, Mike Kerr, John Judd Jr., J. M. Passions and Clinton Dodson. Honorary Pallbearers: Eugene Ward.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 5, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. service starting at 1:00 p.m. at Thurman Funeral Home. Interment will be at Simmons Cemetery. Officiating Bro. Mike McAfee and Bro. Harlen Simmons
Visitation will be Tuesday, January 4, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Thurman Funeral Home.
