William Spakes

Mr. William "Bill" Haskel Spakes, 85, passed away Friday, June 11, 2010 in the Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville, Tennessee. Mr. Spakes was born to William Kendrick and Lizzie Spakes, October 31, 1924 in Doyle, TN. Mr. Spakes served our country during WWII in the United States Army, he received a purple heart while stationed in Germany. Survivors include; loving wife of 62 years, Mary Spakes of Doyle; one son, Billy Spakes of Doyle; three daughters, Beverly Rogers and husband Ronnie of Sparta, Bethene Ward of Doyle and Banetta Wilford and husband Randy of Doyle; Sister, Sallie Anderson of Doyle; eight grandchildren, Billy Ray Spakes, Titus Ward, Cain Rogers, Heather Wilford, Amber Spakes, Autumn Spakes, Crystal Spakes and Carrie Spakes; and Seven great grandchildren, Bradley, Anthony, Courtney, Hannah, Kyler and Kaydee Allen. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Howard and Robert Spakes. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at Thurman Funeral Home at 2:00 P.M. Officiating will be Bro. David Purdy. Interment will follow in the Doyle Cemetery. Pall Bearers are Chuck Bumbalough, Tim Bumbalough, Donnie Bumbalough, Bennie Raper, Ernie Raper, William Calvin Raper, Wendall Smith, Carroll McDonald, Donald McDonald and Dewayne Carter. Family will receive friends Monday, June 14, 2010 at Thurman Funeral Home from 5:00 pm till 8:00 pm.
