He was born on March 27, 1963, in Sparta, Tennessee to the late William and Mary Lawson.

He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Ann Allen, Kay Bolin, Troy Lawson, Ron Lawson, Rick Lawson, Tim Lawson; grandchild, Tristen Yearwood.
