Sparta

Rose Mary Bailey, 80, of Sparta passed away peacefully at home on June 9, 2026 surrounded by family.

Born in Pennsylvania on April 12, 1946, Rose Mary spent her childhood in Minnesota before moving to California at the age of 18. There, she met and married the father of her two daughters and devoted herself to being a loving and supportive mother.

Rose Mary was deeply involved in her community and could often be found at the local Little League park, working in the snack bar, serving on the board, and cheering from the bleachers. She supported not only her own daughters, but countless neighborhood children and many of the children she lovingly cared for through her home daycare over the years.

Many in California will remember her from her years working at Dickers in the Downtown Redding Mall, where her warm personality and sense of humor brightened the days of coworkers and customers alike. After moving to Tennessee, she continued working for 18 years at Big Lots before retiring.

Rose Mary was also a devoted and fun-loving grandmother who treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren. Whether cheering them on, making them laugh, or simply spending time together, she created memories they will carry with them forever.

Rose Mary will be remembered most for her kindness, generosity, quick wit, and wonderful sense of humor. She had a gift for making people feel welcome, cared for, and loved. She was truly a friend to many.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her two daughters, Shondell (Jason) and Janell (Chris); her grandchildren, Jeff, McKenna, Kherington, and Gracelyn; her sister, Bernice; her uncle Frank Yunc; treasured cousins, Cynthia and Barbara; and dear friends who will miss her deeply.

The family would like to thank Gentiva Hospice for their care and support.

Private family services are pending.
