Robert Winger

March 4, 1918 — December 4, 2011

Winger, Robert Charles (Brother Bob), age 93, of Sparta, Tennessee, was taken home to Heaven on Sunday, December 4, 2011 with his loving wife beside him. He dedicated his life to the ministry, most recently at First Christian Church, Sparta, Tennessee. A WWII Veteran, he served his country in the Army.

His vast secular career included owning his own machine shop, senior engineer at Avco and engineering at Thomas Industries. He was an avid golfer and hunter and coached Babe Ruth baseball and taught shop at the White County Middle School.

Brother Winger was born March 4,1918 in Oil City, Pennsylvania to Charles Edward and Myrtle Irene Bixler Winger.

Brother Winger was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Howard Winger, and sisters, Dora Winger and Alice States.

Survivors include his wife, Pauline "Rusty" Winger, daughters Louise Webb (husband Richard Webb), Laura Winger (boyfriend Johnny Bell), sons, Warren Winger, Allan Winger (wife Young Winger), Curtis Winger (wife Cheri Winger), grandchildren Jared Caperton, Elizabeth Springfield, Ruth Caroselli, A.J. Winger and Eric Green, great grandchildren Nathan Sprague and Caroline Springfield, brothers William Winger and Lou Winger and sister Myrtle Kline.

Celebration of Life services will be Saturday, December 10, 2011 at the First Christian Church on Bockman Way, at 2:00 pm with Pastor Trevor Trahan and Family officiating. Family will receive friends after his Celebration of Life Service at the church.
