Mr. Robert Douglas Verble, age 85, was born in Overton County on February 19, 1925, to Charles Andrew Verble and Carrie Alma Qualls Verble. He passed away on December 14, 2010 at the White County Community Hospital.
Mr. Verble was with White County Health Dept as an environmentalist. Also he served as a Scout Master of Troop 175 for several years and was awarded Long Rifle Award. One of his most cherished memories is that both of his sons and two of his grandsons became Eagle Scouts. Both of his sons and grandson were scout leaders. He volunteered for our country in the United States Marines in 1943 during World War II.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Ann Sorrell Verble of Sparta; Sons and daughter-in-law David Carroll Verble of Sevierville, TN and Robert Andrew Verble Sr. and wife Diana of Sparta, grandchildren Robert Andrew Verble,Jr. and wife Heather, Rosalyn Alexis Verble, Rhett Alexander Verble, Carrie Anne Verble and Daniel Lee Verble, great grandchildren Zoey Elizabeth Verble, Andrew Walker Verble and Reagan Alexander Verble
Mr. Verble was preceded in death by his parents and brothers A.Q. Verble, Charles Howard Verble and George Verble, sister Gladys Marie Dagnan.
The family will receive friends at Thurman Funeral Home on Friday, December 17, 2010 from 4:00 P. M. until 8:00 P.M.
Funeral services will be held at Central Church of Christ on Saturday, December 18, 2010, at 11:00 A.M. . Officiating will be Bro. Don Burns. Interment will be in the Old Zion Cemetery .
