Robert Joel Barlow, born on August 5, 1963, in Sparta, Tennessee, passed away on May 17, 2026, in his hometown of Sparta. His passing was completely unexpected, leaving a profound sense of loss among all who knew him.
Robert was a man deeply loved by many; his warmth, kindness, and generosity touched countless lives. Throughout his life, he was known not only for his steadfast character but also for the way he brought those around him together, creating bonds that endured through time.
He is preceded in death by his devoted parents, Margaret and Clint Barlow, who have always been a cornerstone in his life. Robert’s sisters—Daisy Reeves, Luella Luna, Rose Fields, and Jewel Nation—stand as living testaments to the close family ties he cherished. His nephews, Billy Knowles, Johnny Taylor, and Ray Barlow Jr., Tommy Nation; niece, Teresa McCormick; great nephews, Kevin Barlow, Billy Knowles Jr.
He is survived by his son Adam (Kayleigh) Barlow, and daughter, Tanisha Taylor. His grandchildren, Ethan Simmons, Kaden Simmons, and Jasmine Barlow, They were a great source of immense pride and joy to Robert. Additionally, Robert’s sisters—Rita Simmons, Faye Luna, Sharon Vanatta, Gail Vanmeter, Verna Scott, Debbie Marfuta, Sue Hunter, and Betty Randolph—as well as his brothers Ray Barlow, Aaron Barlow, Bill Barlow, and Donnie Barlow, are left behind to carry on a rich family heritage that Robert carried with dignity. Several nieces and nephews also remember him fondly.
His passing leaves an emptiness that will be profoundly felt, yet Robert’s memory will endure in the hearts of his family and friends. The depth of his character and the power of his love remain a lasting testament to a life well lived.
Robert Joel Barlow will be remembered with tremendous respect and affection by all who were privileged to know him, and his legacy will continue to inspire and unite his family and community for years to come.
A celebration of life will be on Saturday May 30, 2026 from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and the service starting at 8:00 p.m. officiating will be Bro. Ronnie Wayne Taylor. at Thurman Funeral Home LLC.
