Robert Joel Barlow

Robert Joel Barlow, born on August 5, 1963, in Sparta, Tennessee, passed away on May 17, 2026, in his hometown of Sparta. His passing was completely unexpected, leaving a profound sense of loss among all who knew him.

Robert was a man deeply loved by many; his warmth, kindness, and generosity touched countless lives. Throughout his life, he was known not only for his steadfast character but also for the way he brought those around him together, creating bonds that endured through time.

He is preceded in death by his devoted parents, Margaret and Thomas Barlow, who have always been a cornerstone in his life. Robert’s sisters—Dasie Reeves, Luella Luna, Rose Fields, and Jewel Nations—stand as living testaments to the close family ties he cherished. His nephews, Billy Knowles, Johnny Taylor, and Ray Jr. Barlow, along with Ray’s sons, Keizin Barlow and Tommy Nation, carry forward his legacy of family unity and love.Robert’s heart was forever connected to those who have departed before him.

He is survived by his son Adam (Kayleigh) Barlow, and daughter, Tanisha Taylor. His grandchildren, Eathan Simmons, Kaden Simmons, and Jasmine Barlow, remain in the memories of all who knew Robert as a source of immense pride and joy. Additionally, Robert’s sisters—Rita Simmons, Faye Luna, Sharon Vanetta, Gail Vanmeter, Verna Scott, Debbie Marfuta, Sue Knowles, and Betty Randolph—as well as his brothers Ray Barlow, Aaron Barlow, Bill Barlow, and Donnie Barlow, preceded him, leaving behind a rich family heritage he carried with dignity. Several nieces and nephews also remember him fondly.

His passing leaves an emptiness that will be profoundly felt, yet Robert’s memory will endure in the hearts of his family and friends. The depth of his character and the breadth of his love remain a lasting testament to a life well lived.

Robert Joel Barlow will be remembered with tremendous respect and affection by all who were privileged to know him, and his legacy will continue to inspire and unite his family and community for years to come.

The family will host a celebration of life that will be announced at a later date.
