Pearlie Brown

January 28, 1926 — October 8, 2013

Pearlie (Ann) Brown, age 87, Known as Ms. ""B" the "Cake Lady" passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at Cookeville Regional Hospital.

She was the daughter of Oliver B. Thompson and Lou Cinda Huff Smith of Putnam County, lived there as a child. Moved to Hickory Valley in early years, also lived in Cherry Creek as she worked at the Sparta Shirt Factory over 40 years, now resides in Sparta. Ann was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lawrence Willard Brown; son in law, LTC Colonial Merriel Eugene Savage; siblings, Ernest B. Thompson, Deward Thompson, Charles T. Smith and Mary Alice Madewell.

Ms. Brown was well known through out Sparta and White County for her famous 4- layer coconut cakes, also made other beautiful cakes. Her cakes has traveled to many cities, states and over seas country. A very well beloved lady with many beautiful friends, always had a smile on her face welcoming you to a piece of cake or other baked items. She loved to bake, gardening and decorate her home. Her life showed the love she had for the Lord, family and friends, as she attended the First United Presbyterian Church in Sparta.

She was the loving mother of daughter, Janice Savage of Sparta; son, Gary Wayne Brown and wife Janace of Savannah, TN; sisters, Eunice B. Cash of Sparta and Helen Jolley of Doyle; three grandchildren, Jon Brown & wife Allison of Murfreesboro, Sarah Janan Savage & FiancAC. Matthew Thomas Caruso of Philadelphia, PA and Merel Eugene Savage of Sparta & friend Cassidy Dykes of Spencer; two great grandchildren, Lilly Ann and Jay Brown of Murfreesboro,TN.

ARRANGEMENTS

Funeral services will be Friday, October 11 , 2013 Thurman's at 3:00 p.m. Officiating will be Bro. Kelly Stockton . Interment will follow in the Robinson Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers, Jarrod Goodwin, Justin Hill, Adam Smith, Blake Weaver, Justin Walling and Bruce MacLeod.

Family will receive friends, Thursday, October 10, 2013 at Thurman Funeral Home at 5:00 p.m. till 9:00 p.m. .
