Mrs. Mary Alice Smith Lawson, age 88 of Sparta, passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2011, at Cumberland Medical Center in Crossville, TN.

Mrs. Lawson was born April 24, 1922 Everett Jones Smith and Josephine Burgess Smith in White County, Tennessee.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 65 years Scott William Lawson, children, infant Troy Lawson, Richard Lawson, Kay Bolin and Ann Allen, sister Lou Hazel Smith and brothers, Thurman Smith and Henry Smith

Survivors include loving children Euless Lawson and wife Betty of Ohio, Jo O'Neal and husband Ellis, Ronald Lawson and wife Vicky, Marie Underwood and husband Lyle, Scotty "Foxie" Lawson and wife Brenda all of Sparta, Debbie Reeves and husband Roger of Knoxville, Randy Lawson wife Selma, Sandy Crabtree husband Tony, Tim Lawson, Robert Lawson and wife Christine all of Sparta and Tommy Lawson and wife Diane of Crossville, 27 grandchildren Kathy, Ricky, Janie, Becky, Billy, Junior, Glenn, Mike, Tammi, Mike, Greg, Jonathan, Teresa, Jeffery, Chris, Alicia, Terri, Joey, Eric, Jennifer, Heather, Jason, Shane, Christie, Alicia, Lisa and Jessica, 38 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Also a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 14, 2011, at Thurman Funeral Home at 12:00 P.M. Officiating will be her grandson Greg O'Neal and Bro. Jack Chadwell. Interment will follow in the Eastland Cemetery. Pallbearers are grandsons.
