Mary Elizabeth Davis, a beloved member of the Sparta community, passed away on February 11, 2026, at the age of 83. Born on June 11, 1942, in Spencer, TN, she cherished her roots and remained a lifelong resident of Tennessee, where she touched the lives of many.
Mary had a vibrant personality and an unwavering faith that guided her through life. She held a deep love for attending church, which was a cornerstone of her life and a source of joy and fulfillment. An avid sports fan, Mary relished watching the Tennessee Titans, often sharing her enthusiasm with family and friends. Additionally, she found solace and entertainment in her favorite soap operas, demonstrating her ability to embrace the simple pleasures in life.
Mary's legacy will continue to thrive through her loving family. She is survived by her three devoted sons: Gene (Robba) Davis, Jimmy R. (Lynn) Davis, and Mark (Loretta) Davis. Her grandchildren, including Derek Raska, Sean Davis, Charles Faircloth, Kellie Allen, Dustin Davis, Bridgett Wright, Crystal Yates, and Joshua Johnson, were sources of immense pride for her. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren: Emma-Grace Davis, Mason Raska, Jenna McCoy, Dillon McCoy, Daylen McCoy, and Kaiden Young. Mary is survived by her siblings, LB Rogers and Bobbie Jean Overby, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins who will carry her memory in their hearts.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Dan and Zadie Rogers, and her brothers: Charlie, Dan Jr., Rufus, Michael, Jimmy Joe, and Truman Rogers. She also mourned the loss of her sisters: Dovie Finley, Katie Snodgrass, Sarah Rogers, Marie Rogers, Maddie Prater, and Margaret Keener, as well as Evelyn Russell.
A visitation in honor of Mary will be held on February 14, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Thurman Funeral Home located at 44 N Main St, Sparta, TN 38583. This will be followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM at the same location. Interment to follow at Old Bon Air Cemetery.
