Linda Sue Williams (née Lance) was born on April 21, 1946, in White County, Tennessee. On July 15, 2026, she passed away in Rutherford County, Tennessee, after an illness and surrounded by loving family. Her gentle presence, unwavering kindness, and enduring love have shaped the lives of all those who knew her.
Linda was the beloved daughter of the late Frank Lance and Willie Lance. Raised in a close-knit family in Tennessee, she grew up amidst the values of devotion, resilience, and compassion that would form the bedrock of her character throughout her years.
Linda’s greatest pride and joy were her family. She is survived by her devoted daughters: Cordia Williams, Monica Goodwin, Tabitha Gregory, and Teri Farris. 8 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren. Each carries forward her legacy of love, strength, and cherished memories. Linda’s bond with her daughters was unwavering, inspiring, and filled with countless moments of laughter, wisdom, and affection.
She is also survived by her sisters, Willie Poss and Mary Hammonds, who stood by her side through life’s joys and challenges. Together, they shared memories that spanned decades, forming a foundation of support and companionship.
Linda is preceded in death by a loving circle of family who welcomed her home: her parents Frank and Willie Lance; her son, Carl Elbert Lance; and her siblings Katherine Stanfield, Maureen Looney, Claude Lance, Tim Lance, Paulene Knowles, Ruth Marshall, and Geraldene Johnson. The loss of these dear loved ones was deeply felt, but Linda’s resilience and grace through sorrow spoke volumes to all who knew her.
Throughout her life, Linda enriched the lives of her family and friends with her kindness, thoughtfulness, and wisdom. Her presence created a home where warmth and acceptance were always found, and her legacy will continue through generations.
Those wishing to pay their respects and celebrate Linda Sue Williams' remarkable life are invited to attend a memorial service on July 17, 2026, at Thurman Funeral Home, located at 44 N Main St, Sparta, TN 38583. The service will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. service starting 5:00 p.m..
Linda Sue Williams will be remembered with deep admiration and abiding love. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who have offered comfort and support during this time. While she will be dearly missed by those whose lives she touched, her memory will remain forever cherished.
