Kermit Dodson

January 20, 1911 — February 13, 2011

Kermit William Dodson, age 100, passed away at N H C of Sparta, Sunday, February 13, 2011.

Mr. Dodson was born January 20, 1911 to Lizza Akins Dodson and James (Jim) Dodson of White County, Tennessee. He was a long time member of Central Church of God and retired as a barber from the Queen Barber Shop in Knoxville, TN. Also, he served our country in the United States Navy in WWII.

Survivors daughters, Ieda Broom (Everett) of Sparta and Evelyn Mynatt (Spurgeon) of Knoxville; son, James Dodson (Jewel) of Louisville, TN; 6 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; half brother, Bonell Dodson of Jamestown; half sister, Nannie Simmons of Locust Grove, GA.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Delma Lee Ford Dodson; daughters, Dorothy Jean and Mary Alice Dodson; brothers, Arliss and Roe Dodson; sisters, Lena Edmonds and Ellen Wilson; half sister, Lorene; half brothers, Wilder and Wesley Dodson.

Family will receive friends Tuesday, February 15, 2011 from 9:00 A.M. till time of service at 11:00 A.M. at Thurman Funeral Home, Sparta, TN.

Officiating will be Rev. Jack Dean. Interment will follow at Friendship Cemetery in Warren County.
