Glyn Edward Smith, age 85 passed away on September 19, 2025 at St Thomas Ascension Medical Center surrounded by his loving family in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
He was born on July 27,1940 to Martin Howard (Buddy) Smith and Willie Reed Myers Smith.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and grandparents.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years Sylvia Earles Smith. Son Jeff Smith (Tracey), daughter Susan Smith, and grandsons Zach (Alejandra) and Jake Smith. Granddaughter Anna-Grace Smith; aunt, Ruby Jo Tucker; and also, a host of nieces and nephews Two beloved pets Oscar and Keeta, also two cats with whom he had an on-going battle of keeping them off the back porch to which he never won.
In his younger years he was an avid baseball player, coon hunter and musician. He was the singer and played the guitar with a local band known as Little Texas Playboys, who performed at the Grand Ole Opry. After his retirement he enjoyed fishing and continued to play music at church until his death.
Glyn will be dearly missed by his family, friends and all those who had the privilege of hearing him tell one of his many stories. His legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of all that knew and love him.
And as he would say “think the world of you”
ARRANGEMENTS:
Family will receive friends on Sunday September 21, 2025 starting at 2:00 p.m. till 4:00 p.m. at Doyle Church of the Nazarene.
Funeral service will be Sunday September 21, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. at Doyle Church of the Nazarene. Officiating will be Bro. Tracy Curtis and special speaker Jonathan Savage.
Pallbearers: Zach Smith, Jake Smith Jimmy Dale Savage, Sam Wilson, Greg Meeks, and Mike Dodson
