Glen Emit Winton, age 83, passed away May 8, 2014 at Life Care of Sparta.
He was born June 15, 1930 in Alpine, TN. He was the son of Issac Emit Winton and Flora Catherine Bilbrey Winton.
He served his country in the Korean War in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Michigan. Glen and his brother in law, Arthur Mitchell, owned and operated the Factory Outlet in 1956. When Arthur retired Glen changed the name to Winton's World.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandsons, Chance Jordan Milton and Wynn Heath Milton; brothers and sisters, Lestie Winton Young, Louester Winton Ledbetter, Carrie Winton Norris, Hallie Winton Vaughn, Robert Winton, Ruth Winton Robbins Mitchell, Bethel Winton, Carlos Winton and Billie Winton.
He was survived by wife of 53 years and mother of his children, Eleanor Winton of Sparta; children, Glenora Winton Milton and husband Rick, Emit Winton and Greg Winton and wife Jennifer all of Sparta; grandchildren, Cody Winton and wife Brittany, Megan Winton, Lacey Winton, Logan Winton and Samantha Bryant and husband Eli; great grandchildren, Eliza Bryant, Briley Winton and Hallie Winton; nieces and nephews; great nieces and great nephews.
The family will receive friends at First Community Church across the street from Wal-Mart in Sparta on Saturday, May 10, from 10:00 a.m. until time for the service at 2:00 p.m.
Funeral service will be at First Community Church across the street from Wal-Mart in Sparta, on Saturday, May 10, 2014, at 2:00 p.m., Bro. Joe Akridge will officiate. Interment will be at the Green Hill Cemetery in Alpine, TN.
