George "Sam" Murdock, age 74, of Sparta, TN, passed away on Tuesday, March 27, 2012, at Life Care Center of Sparta. He was born December 17, 1937 to Ollon A. Murdock and Bessie Mae Ponder Murdock in White County, Tennessee.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Martha Roberts and Sue Walker.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Edith Bonnell Robinson Murdock, daughters, Sharon "Katie" Burton and husband Darrell of Sparta, Tennessee, Wanda J. Murdock and special friend Ed Long of Livingston, Tennessee, and one son, Sammy Murdock and wife Wanda of Sparta, Tennessee; sisters, Doris Henry of Oklahoma, Barbara Hale of Sparta, Tennessee, Nina McBroom of Sparta, Tennessee; brothers, Leonard Murdock and wife Brenda of Sparta, Tennessee and Eston "Dale" Murdock and wife Ellen of Sparta, Tennessee; 4 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends at Thurman Funeral Home, Thursday, March 29, 2012 from 5:00-8:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be Friday, March 30, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Thurman Funeral Home. Officiating will be Bro. Harold Robinson and Bro. Danny Lane.
Interment will be at Clouse Seminary Cemetery, Cookeville, TN.
