Daniel "Luke" Brock, known affectionately as Luke, was born on February 22, 1987, in Coalmont, Tennessee. He passed away peacefully on December 27, 2025, in Sparta, Tennessee. Luke lived a life rich with purpose and service, dedicating himself to both his country and community.
A proud Army Sergeant, he served as a Cavalry Scout, earning the prestigious Combat Cavalryman Badge during his deployment in Iraq. His commitment to service continued beyond the military as he also worked as a firefighter and truck driver, demonstrating a tireless work ethic and a passion for helping others. Throughout his life, Luke acquired numerous certifications, reflecting his dedication to continuous learning and growth.
Luke was not only a hardworking individual, but he was also a loving son and brother. He cherished his family, which includes his devoted parents, Lefferrell "Bulldog" and Laverne "Vern" Brock, and his beloved sisters, Lavernia "Lynn" Brock and Sarah K. Brock. His warmth extended to his maternal grandmother, Ponzell Granny Usrey, and his cherished pitbull, Athena, who were significant parts of his life. Luke's friendly spirit also enveloped a vast network of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. To those who were fortunate enough to call him a friend, Luke was family; he stood as a rock for many, embodying a steadfast love and support in both good times and bad.
The legacy he leaves behind is marked by his strong faith in God and Jesus, which served as the foundation for his life. He was a beacon of light, always ready to lend an ear or a helping hand, drawing people together in a spirit of unity and love.
Luke is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Riley and Sarah Brock, and his maternal grandfather, Theron Eugene Usrey. He also mourns the loss of his beloved pitbull, Damian, who was a faithful companion throughout his journey.
A visitation will be held in honor of Daniel Luke Brock on December 31, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Thurman Funeral Home, located at 44 N Main St, Sparta, TN 38583. A funeral service will follow, commencing at 2:00 PM in the same location. Interment will be at Old Philadelphia Cemetery. Officiating will be Bro. Nathan Hawkins.
As we remember Luke, we celebrate a life truly well-lived. His spirit of service, love for his family, commitment to friendship, and unwavering faith will forever be cherished and remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
