Clayton Edward Hollingsworth

Clayton Edward Hollingsworth, a beloved member of the Sparta, Tennessee community, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2026, at his home in Sparta. Born on August 21, 1948, in Sparta, TN, Clayton lived a life deeply rooted in the values of hard work, community, and family.

A proud graduate of White County High School, Clayton went on to earn his bachelor's degree from Tennessee Tech University, exemplifying a commitment to education that served him well throughout his life. He devoted many years to his career at Rhythm in Sparta, from which he retired, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and professionalism.

Clayton’s love for the land was evident in one of his cherished pastimes: working his cattle. This passion was more than a hobby; it was a reflection of his connection to the rural heritage of Tennessee and the community he served with unwavering loyalty. Outside of his work and agricultural interests, Clayton was known for his warmth and kindness, enjoying close relationships with his neighbors and friends, who considered him a pillar of their community.

He is survived by his cherished wife of 44 years, Elaine Hollingsworth; his uncle Joe Hollingsworth; and cousins Phillip Hollingsworth and Chuck Hollingsworth, who carry forward his memory with pride and affection.

Clayton was preceded in death by his father, Clayton Ray Hollingsworth; his mother, Josephine Hollingsworth; his aunt, Louise Hollingsworth; and his uncles, Carl and Keith Hollingsworth. Their memories remain an integral part of the family legacy that Clayton so lovingly upheld.

A visitation to honor Clayton’s life will be held at Thurman Funeral Home, located at 44 North Main Street in Sparta, TN 38583, on May 2, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. A funeral service will immediately follow at the same location at 3:00 PM. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery. Officiating will be Bro. Tracy Curtis.

Clayton Edward Hollingsworth’s life was a testament to the enduring strength of community bonds and the profound impact of living with integrity and compassion. He will be remembered with great respect and affection by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
