Carl Cooley

Mr. Carl William Cooley, age 92 passed October 3, 2010, at Cumberland Medical Center in Crossville, Tennessee.

Mr. Cooley was born to William Ray Cooley and Nina Florence Watley Cooley on October 24, 1917 in White County, Tennessee.

Mr. Cooley served our country in the United States Navy in World War II. After the military service, he provided for his family working as a coal miner in West Virginia and Eastland/Clifty Coal Mines, and he was retired from General Processing in Crossville, Tennessee.

He is survived by his children, Jean Ann Martinez of Memphis; Robert Earl Cooley and wife Franette of Jackson County; Peggy Lynn Threet and husband Charles Jr. of Pleasant Hill; Dennis Ray Cooley and wife Rochelle of Sparta; and Ronald Lee (Babe) Cooley and wife Regina of Sparta; sisters Ruth Sarrett of West Virginia, Mary Cooley of Ohio, Patricia Lovelace of Texas and Sue Cartwright of Ohio; 4 grandchildren Stacey Martinez, Travis Threet, Caleb Cooley, Vivian Cooley; 2 step-grandchildren Glynn Goolsby and Sharron Buck and 5 great-grandchildren; Drake Parrott, Gavin Threet, Madalin Dotson, David Smith and Dominic Dotson and 1 step great-grandchild: Jackson Buck.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 69 years: Katherine Iretta Crabtree Cooley, son Carl David Cooley, sister Joyce Cooley and brothers Leonard, Gene, Tommy, Leon and Austin Cooley.

Graveside services will be October 6, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Clifty Cemetery in Cumberland County. Officiating will be Bro. Tim Lewis. Burial in the Clifty Cemetery.
