It is with deep respect and sorrow that we announce the passing of Billy Floyd McCormick, who left us suddenly and unexpectedly on June 10, 2026, in his hometown of Sparta, Tennessee. Born on April 19, 1938, also in Sparta, Billy lived a life marked by dedication, love, and service.
Billy was a proud veteran, having served honorably in the United States Army. His commitment to his country reflected a strong sense of duty and honor, qualities that he carried into every aspect of his life.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Rama and Lilly McCormick; his wife, Virginia Carolyn McCormick; his brother, Jim McCormick; and his sister, Jean McCormick. Their memories remain a cherished part of his life story.
Billy is survived by his sons, DeWain and Shaun McCormick, who were a source of great pride and joy to him throughout his life. He was also a perfect father-in-law to Shaun’s wife, Ginger McCormick, whose presence brought warmth and happiness to the family. Billy’s love extended to his precious grandchildren, Joshua McCormick, son of Shaun and Ginger, and Luke, son of DeWain. In addition, he is survived by his brother, Bob McCormick and his sister, Illa McCaskey.
The community of Sparta will gather to honor and remember Billy at Thurman Funeral Home, located at 44 N Main St, Sparta, TN 38583. Visitation will be held on June 14, 2026, from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM, followed immediately by the funeral service from 2:00 PM.
Billy Floyd McCormick’s life was one of meaningful connections and steadfast devotion. He will be remembered with profound respect and admired for the sincerity and kindness he extended to all who knew him. His legacy endures through his family and the many lives he touched.
