Barbara Margeson

February 15, 1948 — February 18, 2022

Barbara “Gail” Arnold Margeson, 74, passed away peacefully from a sudden illness, at St. Thomas Riverpark Hospital, February 18, 2022, with her niece by her side.

Gail was born February 15, 1948, in McMinnville, TN. At the time of her passing, she was a resident of the Walling, TN community. She previously lived in Rock Island, TN for many years and still loved the community.  You could often find her eating at Rock Island Market.

She was a daughter of the late George Arnold and the late Opal Arnold Wood.  Gail attended Cassville School and was a member of the White County High School 1966 graduating class.  She retired from Ben Lomand Telephone Cooperative after 40 years. Since October 1997, Gail was a dedicated and faithful member of Gum Springs Baptist Church in Walling, TN. She loved the Lord with ALL her heart and meekly served anywhere she was needed. Her favorite times were spent attending events with the Senior Adults from Gum Springs.  Gail had a passion for genealogy research allowing her to document her knowledge and memories. After retiring, she spent most of her time with her family and friends.  She enjoyed traveling and had a remarkable sense of direction and memory - in which she joked with Jasmine about getting lost on their travels. Her favorite place from all her adventures was Gatlinburg, TN. The mountains drew her closer to God, knowing that her favorite place was His beautiful creation. On the off chance that she had free time, she also loved collecting dolls, playing Bunco with the church ladies, attending theatrical plays, and reading.

Survivors include her spouse John “David” Margeson of Walling, TN; one sister Donna Rutledge and her husband William of Walling, TN; one niece Rochelle Mullins and her husband Rodney of McMinnville, TN; one nephew Jeff Rutledge and his wife Carol of Hazel Green, AL; two great-nieces Jasmine and Hollie Mullins; one great-nephew Eric Rutledge; one step-son John David Margeson Jr.; three step grandchildren Matt, Ashley, and Thomas Margeson. She will also be greatly missed by many cousins and their children that she loved dearly.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 26th, 2022, beginning at 10AM at Thurman Funeral Home in Sparta, TN.  Funeral services will follow at 2PM with Pastor Bo Hendrix officiating.  Interment will be at Mount Pisgah Cemetery in Quebeck, TN.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Gail’s memory to Gum Springs Baptist Church or Mount Pisgah Cemetery (care of Darwin Gooch).

“The blank pages of our lives only God can fill this spot in our life, but we have to give it all to God.” God simply loves you, period. No conditions, fine print, or measurements.
