Arles Ralph Baker, born on February 20, 1934, in Cookeville, Tennessee, passed away on January 11, 2026, in his hometown. He was a multifaceted individual who dedicated much of his life to the trades of farming, logging, and carpentry.

Arles served in the Army from 1956 to 1958, stationed at Ft. Polk, Louisiana, where he fulfilled his military duties with honor. His commitment to service was a defining aspect of his character.

He is survived by his children, Alan (Beth)  Baker and Dana Baker, as well as his stepchildren, Michelle Edenfield of Georgia and Greg Hardin of Ohio. Arles's legacy continues through his grandchildren, including Roxann Hooten (married to Brandon), TK Bullis, Joah Bullis, Mateah Bullis, Chrisabella Riddle, Tony (Alison Hughes) Baker, Derrick Scott, Ricky Brown and Tasha Brown.His great-grandchildren include Shyann Baker, Bella Baker, Aiden Bullis, Bentley Baker, Allianna Bullis,  Ottie Bullis, Kameron Bullis. 

Arles was preceded in death by his father, Arvil Edgar Baker, and mother, Allie Marie Robinson Baker. He also mourned the loss of an infant brother, Charles Baker; sister, Eugenia Baker Clouse; and his children's mother, Marita Gross Baker. He was also predeceased by his wife, Dean Mackie, and his daughter, Sherry Baker Scott.

Visitation is scheduled for January 17, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Thurman Funeral Home, located at 44 N Main St, Sparta, TN 38583. Following the visitation, a graveside service will be at Clouse Seminary Cemetery. Arles Ralph Baker leaves behind a rich legacy of family, trade, and patriotism, remembered fondly by all who knew him.
